Seattle Search Group is looking for an experienced Sr. Payroll Tax Accountant to join a growing organization. This hands-on role is designed to lead payroll tax practices in a multi-state tax environment, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timely reporting for federal, state, and local jurisdictions.

Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day multi-state payroll tax administration, including setting up and closing payroll tax jurisdictions.
Reconcile and validate quarterly and annual federal, state, and local tax filings.
Manage agency tax notices and support audit requests.
Collaborate with the Senior Payroll Accountant on account reconciliations impacted by tax transactions.
Handle incoming payroll tax communications and inquiries.
Provide exceptional customer service with timely and accurate responses to payroll tax inquiries.
Lead the W-2 year-end process, including review, testing, preparation, filing, and delivery.
Perform internal payroll tax audits to ensure accuracy.
Plan, test, and implement upgrades and enhancements to the payroll system, ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory updates.
Develop, document, and update standard operating procedures for payroll, identifying areas for improvement to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
 

Job Requirement

 
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
At least 5 years of payroll tax experience in a complex, multi-state payroll environment.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in federal and state payroll tax filing (quarterly/annual).
Ability to meet payroll tax filing deadlines.
Team-oriented approach with a commitment to secure handling of confidential information.
CPA or CPP certification is preferred.
